Signifies that the artist has achieved a high level of mastery — a deep understanding of each chosen medium's techniques, materials, and expressive possibilities — refined through consistent practice and commitment over time.
As an artist in the Pacific Northwest, I am fortunate to live in the vibrant arts communities of Gig Harbor and Fox
Island. I have the privilege of painting with dedicated artists—all of us drawn to the beauty of a natural
landscape.
Growing up in the Southeast and Midwest, my earliest influences in art were my family’s collection of Japanese
wood block prints, which included ukiyo-e prints and shin hanga prints by Hiroshi Yoshida, 1876-1950. Although
I always loved drawing and painting, I majored in English literature and eventually worked in marketing,
advertising and public relations.
After that career, I studied watercolor in Oregon and North Carolina. Then upon moving to Atlanta, I studied oil
painting with the classical artist Chris DiDomizio in his Old World Art studio which led to a transformation of my work. In addition, I studied plein air painting with Bill Davidson of Carmel, CA. I paint outdoors from June through September and in studio the rest of the year.
