The votes from the PAL community for our 2024 PAL Summer Art Festival student poster are in! This year’s online voting was very popular, allowing all members the opportunity to vote for their favorite.
The First Place entry is from Sarah Hurn, an 11th grade student at Peninsula High School. Sarah’s winning art is an elegantly designed image that showcased several classic Pacific Northwest icons: a salmon, Mt. Rainier, a fir tree, an eagle and rhododendrons, surrounded by a nautical rope. Her artwork will be featured on one of the two PAL Summer Art Festival posters. Sarahl receives an award of $250. Her art teacher, Stephanie Carlson, receives an award of $150 in special recognition for supporting and encouraging art students to enter.
The Second Place entry is from Jenna Stefanski, an 11th grade student at Gig Harbor High School. The winning art features a classical image of Mt. Rainier with the Gig Harbor lighthouse in the foreground. Jenna receives an award of $150. Her art teacher is Alyse Yeaman.
The Third Place entry is from Kayla Adams, a 9th grade student at Peninsula High School. Her winning art features Mt. Rainier, fir trees, a pod of Orcas, sailboats and a dock, all surrounded by a simple rendition of a boat’s helm. Kayla receives an award of $75. Stephanie Carlson is her art teacher.
There are two honorable mentions:
Sophia Rogers, a 12th grade student at Gig Harbor High School; her art teacher is Alyse Yeaman. Sophia painted a realistical and striking image of an eagle catching a fish.
Anabella Roberts is a 10th grade student at Peninsula High School and her art teacher is Stephanie Carlson. Anabella painted a whimsical image of a mermaid encircling a classic Pacific Northwest landscape of mountains and rivers.
