SEEING COLOR IN THE GARDEN
LORENE EDWARDS FORKNER
ABOUT THE PRESENTATION
As avid gardener all her life, in early 2018 Lorene began creating color studies of plants and other artifacts from nature. The practice has become a daily exercise in cultivating attention and mindfulness.
Color is one of nature’s most sophisticated tools engineered to capture the attention of all living creatures. Learn how to hone your perception, discover hidden hues, and cultivate an expansive view of the world around you. Color is powerful and delightful.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
LORENE EDWARDS FORKNER is an author, maker, and speaker whose work centers on exploring the wonders of the natural world. She lives a garden-based life in the Pacific Northwest, specifically in an old house near the beach in West Seattle. This tiny plot is her living workshop and testing ground where she pursues seasonal pleasures, delicious flavors, and often picks from her garden for her creative experimentation. She is the author of several books, including the recent Color In and Out of the Garden from Abrams. Her stories appear in the GROW column in The Seattle Times where she explores the gardens and gardeners of the Pacific Northwest.
