Festival Poster

Every year we hold a contest for art students at our local high schools to give us their ideas for our festival poster. We look for the drawing, collage or illustration that best conveys the idea of Gig Harbor as an artsy, creative place. Art League members select the winning image. Monetary awards are given to the first, second and third place winners, and also to the art teacher whose student took first place. Our 2023 winner (with text added) — “Cosmic Fish” — was painted by Jack Sandford from Henderson Bay High School.
His art teacher, Danielle Chornoma, was also recognized. The other winning illustrations were submitted by Aria Schumacher (2nd Place) and Arrow Wehmeir (3rd Place.

Proceeds from the Art Festival are used to fund scholarships to art students from our local high schools, to fund scholarships to Peninsula Art League members continuing their artistic learning, and to fund art shows, workshops and other educational programs for Gig Harbor and surrounding areas.
Our 2022 scholarship winners were: Farris Hovater of South Kitsap High School; Skye Sears of Peninsula High School, and Audrey Allen and Samantha Shaw of Gig Harbor High School. Congratulations to these young artists as they continue to grow and thrive in their artistic careers.
The Peninsula Art League’s mission is to bring community to the artist and art to the community.
