Drawing & Painting Groups

Plein air painting happens weekly during the summer and early fall when we get together at locations throughout the area to paint and draw en plein air. It’s a great way to stretch ourselves as artists and it gets us outdoors to enjoy the season. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun. In the fall, we hope to have a public exhibit of our work. It’s not necessary to be a PAL member to be part of the plein air group, but only screened PAL members can show their work in the exhibit. Pop over to the Calendar page to check on this coming summer’s plein air schedule or click here to access the full schedule. Contact Cathie Johnson at ccjohnson0306@gmail.com to sign-up for more information.

Urban Sketchers meet several times a month, usually on Thursdays, to draw “on location.” This lively, supportive group is committed to raising the artistic, storytelling and educational value of location drawing. For information contact Lori Johnson at lorijohnson@wavecable.com or visit their blog at https://urbansketcherstacoma.blogspot.com/

The Fox Island Painters (“FoxPaw”) meets Wednesdays, 10am-1pm at the Nichols Community Center. Get-togethers are continuing through the winter with a monthly $5 fee. They typically take a break in August and September. For information, contact Charli Meacham charli.meacham@gmail.com.

Portrait and Life Drawing typically meets on Fridays from 1-3pm (masked) at Village Concepts. Bring your supplies and an easel (if you want) and $5 for the model fee each week. Contact Anne Knapp at annemknapp@gmail.com for latest information.

Our Go Figure Drawing group at Donna Trent’s studio is on hold. To be put on Donna’s list for updates, please contact her at donnatrent@centurytel.net.
