Membership FAQs

Membership dues are to be paid once per year, and payment is due on the anniversary of the date you became a member. You can find the date your membership payment is due by logging into the PAL website and clicking on the “Account Details” tab.

Click on the My Juried Shows tab to see information about your accepted artwork in PAL’s juried shows.

The National Fine Art Show (NFAS), is Peninsula Art League’s (PAL’s) prestigious juried art exhibition celebrating excellence in two- and three-dimensional artwork and photo/digital art showcasing local, regional and national artists.

  • There is no commission for art that is sold.
  • Art sales are handled directly between the artist and the buyer, via the email contact information that will be listed on the art identification label.
  • If your art is sold, please notify membershows@peninsulaartleague.org so that it can be marked as sold.
  • Art that is sold must remain in the show until the show is over.

PAL has two types of Member shows that are open to all members:

  • The Member Non-Juried Shows
    • Entries are not juried
    • All entries that meet the show requirements will be displayed
    • One entry per Member

  • The Member Juried Shows
    • Entries are juror-selected (juror not affiliated with PAL)

  • Signature Member Show:
    • Any PAL Signature Member can submit an entry in the medium for which they were qualified
    • Juror will select awards

Yes! But it’s easy to do! The links to each application can be found on the Signature and Achievement Member page.

Yes! If three of your works in one medium have been selected in the required juried shows for a Signature Member, and three different works in a variety of mediums have been selected in different juried shows for an Achievement Member, you would qualify for both honor titles.

For instance, you could have a “Signature Member – Watercolor” for your extensive work with watercolors, but you could also have an “Achievement Member” award for successfully entering an oil painting, a drawing and a sculpture into three juried shows.

Yes! Each Signature Member status is attached to one medium but you could potentially qualify for more than one Signature Member status.

For instance, if you have had three pastel paintings accepted into the required juried shows but also have had three oil paintings accepted into the required juried shows, you would qualify for a “Signature Member – Pastels” and a “Signature Member – Acrylic/oil painting.”

A Summer Art Festival Exclusive

Our Summer Members’ Show promises to be a seasonal celebration of the unmatched creativity of a vibrant mix of artists working in a wide range of mediums who make up the Peninsula Art League. Exhibited inside the Volunteer Vern Pavilion, this dedicated Member Show will be a major highlight of the 40th Summer Art Festival, showcasing our Members’ indoor exhibition in addition to 100+ regional community booth artists.

This year our juror is Christine Buchanan, a renowned Gig Harbor sculptor and Fine Arts Department Chair at Peninsula High School. Christine’s unique perspective is deeply rooted in visual storytelling and a profound connection to the natural world.

Here is a chance to step inside the pavilion to discover a beautifully curated collection that represents the heart and soul of our league.

Our juror will be awarding Best of Show, 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place and three Honorable Mention winners.

Summer Art Fair attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite for the People’s Choice Awards.

Juror Christine Buchanan

Christine has been at Peninsula High School for more than 30 years as an instructor of Sculpture, Pottery, Warm and Cold Glass, and Printmaking. She is also the Chair of The Fine and Performing Arts Department of Peninsula High School.

She graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and received her Masters at Lesley University in Teaching Through the Arts.

Her art has been in many exhibitions and private art collections.
